Excellent American accent, Sey. That's actually what I and all my other fellow Americans really sound like; I was trying really hard to disguise it during our podcast but I think it might have slipped out once or twice. (Also congrats getting hitched Jeph!)

Agent Ape - thanks!
Dude, Kev, how did you know how my voice sounded!? That was so spot-on it was spooky! And my fiance's, too! Thank god I finished all those playlists before the honeymoon - might have caused an awkward situation or two...
Ok but for real, I enjoyed this episode a lot. It was cool to hear about how you each got into gaming. It's not something I've ever given a ton of thought to. It's interesting to think that we all got our first dose of gaming in a different way. I hadn't ever even given thought to the fact that someone could have gotten their start on handheld in the GameBoy, rather than on a console first. It's also fun to hear the perspectives of NA vs PAL and how timeframes differed (like the huge gap between Banjo-Tooie releases in each region). It was also cool to hear how each of you got into Rare's games and the order in which you did.
My journey into gaming was basically this: my much-older cousin had an NES with Super Mario Bros, and when we went to visit, I got to play it. This was right around 1989 (I was 3). The next year, my mom married for a second time, and the guy she married had an NES with the Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cartridge, and the Konami hockey game Blades of Steel and Tengen's R.B.I. Baseball. I played the hell out of all of those games. We got Super Mario Bros. 3 a few years later, then a Super NES with Mario World and Mario Kart bundled in... and then it really just spiraled out of control from there lol.
As far as Rare goes, my first experience was with DKC in a Sears store kiosk in the fall of 1994. I got it for my birthday in January of 1995, and was totally obsessed. My best friend got DKC2 the following Christmas and I played that with him a lot, and then he also got Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run the summer after that, right when it came out. So at that point I was already starting to recognize the Rareware logo and what it meant in regards to quality (say what you will about KGJWR, as a Mariners fan, I loved it). That same friend got an N64 that Christmas ('96) and between then and the following summer we played Blast Corps and Goldeneye a lot. I got an N64 that Christmas ('97) and it came with Diddy Kong Racing. Since it was my only game until I got Banjo-Kazooie the Christmas after that (I seriously didn't own Mario 64 until college - I borrowed my friend's and played all the way through it, but never owned it), I played DKR constantly and explored every nook and cranny. For whatever reason, I never unlocked T.T. or got the last couple of balloons. I should do that. I set up my N64 a few weeks ago and played it, and saw I was at 47 balloons. Gotta get on that!
Anyways, fun topic, great discussion, and looking forward to the next! Cheers!
P.S. My vote is for Donkey Kong to come and King Kong the shit out of the story
